The Train Station
The building of the train station led to the opening up of the Rambla
The construction of the train station is an event of historic importance in the development of Gavā. The work started in 1878 and the station was opened 3 years later, in 1881. The station enabled the Rambla to be opened up and played an important part in bringing the town closer to Barcelona.
The station architecture is simple and eclectically inspired. The most notable element is the porticoed canopy, which opens onto the platforms.
